day 1: Arrival to Lima

After passing the immigration controls at Lima airport our English speaking guide will meet you. Your transfer from the airport to the hotel will take around 1 hour.

The capital of Peru Lima, is situated right on the Pacific coast. A metropolitan city of 11 million Peruvians is naturally perfect for sampling the famed national cuisine, with its vast base of ingredients and spices. Then, a relaxing tour of San Francisco convent, with its 21-altar Basilica and museum featuring works by Rubens, Zurbaran and Rivera. A circuit of the many downtown plazas (squares) includes a seaside cycle path, botanical garden and Parque del Amor, ending with Lima’s best bars and nightspots. Meanwhile, the ancient tradition is very much alive at Huaca Pucllana temple, just steps away from the hotels and hostels of central Miraflores district. The impressive Pyramids of Pachacamac are just a 40km drive south.

day 2: Huariques & Bike tour in Barranco

If you like to taste and discover different dishes and flavors from the locals eat in picturesque and original places, this is the tour for you.

We started in Miraflores and headed to the “Malecón” where we’ll enjoy the spectacular view of the Bay of Lima, then we are going to try the tasting seafood menu, after that we continue to delight in more local places some of the Main dishes from Peru like «causa peruana»; We continue the adventure in a third place for a Lomo Saltado or more peruvian delicatessen, please don’t worry, there is no dessert forgotten, you can choose between a homemade ice cream or some “picarones” (sweet potatoes, pumpkin, clove and cinnamon), sweet and delicious, finally some craft beers will be waiting for us to start the way back.

day 3: Public bus experience & Casa de Aliaga Visit

This day you will take a public bus from Miraflores to Lima downtown and have the experience how is the Peruvian public transportation.
(Do not worry, your guide will help you during all the way.)

Casa de Aliaga Visit
After the founding of Lima on January 18th, 1535, Captain Jerónimo de Aliaga y Ramírez received a colonial house in the elegant area near the house of Francisco Pizarro, the Spanish Conqueror, (today the Government Palace). Ever since then the Aliaga family and their descendants have lived in the house, thus making it the oldest dwelling in the Americas that has been home to the same family for 17 generations.

Rebuilt and reshaped after the earthquakes, and some changes in architectural trends, the mansion has served for almost five centuries to Lima’s history. Its artistic value emerges from the beauty of its interior space, the poetic and evocative of their environments and the original distribution of the rooms.

As you wander through the beautiful rooms of this old mansion one can enjoy both the Colonial and Republican history of the city of Lima.

You will continue to the Main Square, where the Government Palace is located, panoramic visit to the Cathedral, where we will find the remains of the conqueror Francisco Pizarro, visit also the religious Museum of the Cathedral. Then you will visit Santo Domingo convent, The church is famous in Lima for being the only one with a “real” steeple, which in consequence of the construction over several stages has a very peculiar style. Inside the church are the oldest choir stalls of Lima, the famous statue of the Virgen del Rosario and the silver urns that contain the relicts of Santa Rosa (the patron saint of Lima) and San Martín de Porres.

day 4: Experience at Shanty town

On this walking tour you will get the opportunity to see how a large majority of Lima’s population truly lives in happiness ambience and community system. We at Haku Tours want you to see ‘the real’ Lima. Take a walk up the famous yellow stairs and along narrow cute roads all the way to the hilltops and discover beautiful city views of Villa El Salvador, San Juan, Pamplona, Villa Maria, etc., few of the country’s largest Slums.

During the tour, we will also visit a local daycare center, silverware factory and the friendly families from this nice community. The town’s huge dimensions and breathtaking views are impressive for any visitor. Remember this tour is about to know people, who will share with you their culture, traditions, believes and thoughts. You should expect to get warm welcoming and happy smiles (locals love visitors).

day 5: Trip to Cusco & Free afternoon

You will be picked up from your hotel and get transportation from your hotel to the Lima airport and have a domestic flight on your own.

Upon arrival there will be a private transfer from the airport in Cusco to your hotel with guide.

Cusco (or Cuzco) was the historic capital of the Inca Empire, now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Its elevation of over 11,000 feet allows visitors to acclimatize before setting off on long treks towards Machu Picchu’s legendary mountain ruins. Cusco is a very pleasant city to explore, with wonderful ancient stonework, narrow streets and important Inca temple remains, complemented by Spanish colonial buildings. Numerous museums showcase Inca and pre-Colombian culture, as well as textiles and sacred plants.

Being a rich agricultural region, many fusion and neo-Andean restaurants offer unique Peruvian gastronomy. Meanwhile, day trips to nearby lagoons can be connected with visits to Inca ruins such as Pisac, Tambomachay, Kenqo, Sacsayhaman and Ollantaytambo.

day 6: Walking Cusco City Tour & Surroundings

We have 2 options today for our walking tour:

Option 1
Begin your city tour at the Cusco Cathedral and enjoy some incredible panoramic views of the city, tour visiting the Main Square, known in Inca times as Huacaypata or “The Warriors Square”, this was the scene for many key events in Cusco’s history. The Cathedral, built between 1560 and 1664 with large stones of red granite taken from the Inca Fortress of Sacsayhuaman, is one of the most imposing structures in the city, It also houses one of the most significant collections of gold and silver work of the colonial period, elaborately engraved wooden altars and a beautiful collection of oil on canvas paintings from the Escuela Cusqueña.

We’ll continue to Koricancha and the Convent of Santo Domingo. The Convent was built on the amazing Koricancha (or site of gold), the most important temple dedicated to the worship of the Sun and whose walls were covered with sheets of gold. This Convent was built on a foundation of polished stone structures, the most finely crafted in Cusco, taken from the Inca sanctuary.

We finished our visit in San Pedro market, a local market, one of Peru’s most colorful and vibrant markets. Return to the hotel.

Option 2
Visit to San Blas Quartier by the ancient road of Hatun Rumiyoc. It is a narrow pedestrian street, famous for its Inca walls where huge stones are precisely carved to fit together without mud or concrete. You’ll find the masterpiece, a 12-angled stone, about halfway down the street.

One of its main characteristics are its streets that are crossed in zig zag while you appreciate the architecture and the buildings.

The neighborhood of San Blas is also known as the “Neighborhood of the artists or the neighborhood of craftsmen” due to the shops and workshops that are in the area. San Blas also houses one of the oldest churches in Cusco called “The Church of San Blas” which was built in 1563.

We can also visit San Pedro market, a local market, one of Peru’s most colorful and vibrant markets.

Nearby Ruins
You will drive with your guide to the nearby ruins of Cuzco, such as Sacsayhuaman Fortress with his immense walls of temples made up of huge stones distributed in a zigzag pattern, there, you will enjoy a light picnic lunch in Sacsayhuaman which includes salad, sandwich or wrap, desert, bottle of water, red or white wine (Peruvian’s brands) and a soda with great views.

Then you will continue to the red Fort Puca Pucara, Qenko Amphitheatre and Tambomachay, the Inca baths. After an impressive tour you will turn back to the hotel.

day 7: Revealing Andean Textile

The Amaru Community will receive the people with music and native flowers as well as a gift for the Pacha Mama to thank for the day and sharing with people from other cultures. The tour begins with the visitors and locals picking up flowers and leafs that will be used in the coloring of the wool, then an explanation of how to put the wool into a ball to finish with the handmade weaving. Afterwards they will take you to see the finished textile that you can buy. Then you will be invited to an Andean lunch.

day 8: Sacred Valley Tour with Andean Ceremony

Traditional Sacred Valley Tour 
The Sacred Valley of the Incas was undoubtedly a key area of settlement to the Incas. Its agreeable climate and fertile plains make a rare and fruitful combination for the high Andes. It was also the route to the jungle and therefore an area with access to the fruits and plants of the tropical lowlands. Today the Sacred Valley remains a lush agricultural region supplying the city of Cusco with much of its produce such as maize, fruit and vegetables.
The visit is including Pisac Indian Market which attracts thousands of visitors and people from remote communities, dressed in colorful, traditional attire.

In the afternoon, visit to the Ollantaytambo Ruins, named in honor of the chief Ollanta, who was famous for courting an Inca Princess daughter of Pachacutec. One of its best preserved areas, known as Hanan Huacaypata lies north of the main square and contains 15 states built with elegantly crafted stone walks.

At the end of the tour, we will finally arrive to Chinchero. In this very well know textile village was located the hacienda of the Royal Inca, Tupac Inca Yupanqui, as well as a Colonial church built over the original Inca constructions, which had trapezoidal windows.

Payment to the Earth Ceremony 
You will be transferred to the Sun temple to be part of the Payment to the earth ceremony.
The ritual is a way to show gratitude for Mother Nature’s abundant gifts and harmonize with the energy that connects all things. The ceremony invites the Apus (sacred mountain deities) to help cleanse, balance and guide us. It blows three coca leaves,

day 9: Lunch at Skylodge & Trip to Aguas Calientes (Machu Picchu)

The exclusive Skylodge Adventure Suites offers a gastronomic experience combined with the thrill of arriving to the dining capsule.

You will be collected from your hotel and transferred to Pachar. You will ascent climbing via ferrata or hiking up through the zip line. Once you arrived, you will have lunch at Skylodge Adventure Suites.

Lunch served is composed by 4 dishes (Soup, salad, main course, dessert) and non- alcoholic and alcoholic beverages (red or White wine or champagne)

After your meal, descent ziplinning or rappelling down back to the base to be transferred to Ollantaytambo train station.

day 10: Machu Picchu Private Tour

Your guide will meet you in your hotel for your guided tour of the archaeological site. Walk to the bus station to take your bus up to Machu Picchu.

Shared transfer from Aguas Calientes to Machu Picchu and from Machu Picchu to Aguas Calientes.

Tour Machu Picchu (Half day) 
Machu Picchu was only re-discovered in 1911 by the explorer Hiram Bingham, this citadel is considered to be one of the most extraordinary examples of landscapes architecture in the world. Located in an enclave on the saddle of a mountain overlooking the deep canyon of the Urubamba River, in an area of lush tropical forest, it served as a place of worship, a site for star-gazing and a private hacienda of the family of the Inca Pachacutec. It consists of two main areas one agricultural, formed mainly by mountains and food stores, and the other urban, which is noted for its sacred zone with its temples, squares and royal tombs. The stairways and canals carved out of stone are recurrent throughout this remarkable archaeological site.

Machu Picchu was declared a Peruvian Historical Sanctuary in 1981 and a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1983. In 2007, Machu Picchu was chosen as one of the New Seven Wonders of the World.

day 11: Tipon – Andahuaylillas Excursion & Cooking class

Half Day Tipon and Andahuaylillas Excursion
Pick up from the hotel, we will visit Tipon, located at an altitude of 3.500m.o.s.l. is an archaeological group in which highlights the large capacity of the Incas to distribute the water for irrigation in the sectors of culture, with horizontal and vertical irrigation canals that are distributed by all the staggered terraces, a center of agricultural production, very important to the Inca empire, and one of the samples more impressive of Inca hydraulic engineering.
We will continue to Andahuaylillas. Its history goes back to the time of the colony during the 16th century, when the Spanish Crown sends to form the so-called reductions, which consisted in bringing together all the Andean countries that lived in the heights in a single sector, so as to facilitate the work of indoctrination in the catholic religion. For that reason it was made the first buildings of small temples on foundations of Incas altars, called Huacas. And also the chapel of Andahuaylillas was built under the invocation of San Pedro Apostle that lodge many indigenous peoples from various parts of the Andean territory. To impose the catholic religion laws, the best way to evangelize was showing biblical passages in mural paintings, that was why they painted the inner walls of the chapel with beautiful murals; this is the reason why today is considered as the “Sistine chapel of America.

Half Day Cooking Classes 
Our tour is a culinary experience with a unique insight into Peru’s food and culture through the use of regional products like quinoa, yellow peppers, and trout. With our chef you will create fusion gourmet dishes and enjoy the most spectacular views that the city has to offer.
The cooking lessons starts at 4:00 pm and includes pick up and drop off the customer’s hotel.

The class starts with a 30 minute tour of the traditional open air San Pedro market. Afterwards we will head to the 11th floor Rooftop Kitchen facility, with breathtaking views of the city, to start the cooking lesson. The class consists of the preparation of an appetizer, main course, and Pisco sour. We also offer vegetarian options (please specify when you reserve). The lesson lasts approximately 2 hours.

day 12: Trip to Chachapoyas & overnight at Gocta Lodge

We will pick you up with a private transfer from your Hotel to the Airport in Cusco.

You will board your domestic flight from Cusco via Lima to Jaen.

You will have a shared transfer from Jaen airport to Gocta Lodge.

Gocta Andes Lodge is designed to enjoy the view of the falls of Gocta. All rooms, which offer either a balcony or terrace, are oriented towards them. Aswel as the gardens, pools and surrounding terraces. Gocta Lodge is located in the village of Cocachimba, the starting point of hikes to Gocta. Access is easy, just 22 km from Pedro Ruiz, arrival point for buses from Tarapoto and Chiclayo, and 42 km from Chachapoyas, the colonial capital of the region. At an altitude of 1.800 meters, it enjoys a privileged spring weather.

day 13: Gocta Waterfall Excursion

The Gocta waterfall, with 771 m is the third highest in the world. There are different routes to get there, the most popular part of Cocachimba to access its base. In the 5.5 km of the trail we will cross cane crops, with their traditional sugar mills, to later enter a cloud forest, with trees covered in orchids, lichens and mosses.

The counselors of the Communal Association will accompany us to explain so much the ecosystem that we it surrounds you as the history of your community and of the falls. There are other walks to the falls. From San Pablo from Valera you access the base of the first fall (6 km). It is possible to return to San Pablo or connect with the trail lower, to finally reach Cocachimba (16 km in total, high difficulty, about 8 hours).

There is also the option to leave the lodge early to see the cock of the rocks, the emerald tucaneta and other birds, besides being the first to reach the falls.

day 14: Kuelap Archaeological site

Kuelap is the most important archaeological site of the Norwegian Andes. It forms an architectural ensemble of stone characterized by its monumentality, with a large artificial platform, seated on the crest of rock on the top of Cerro Barreta (3000 masl.). The platform extends along almost 600 m and has as a perimeter a wall that in some points reaches 19 m in height.
It is estimated that its construction should start towards the century VI, coinciding with the period of flourishing of the Chachapoyas culture, and his occupation must have culminated towards the middle of the sixteenth century.
Its colossal walls and its complex architecture inside are evidences of their function as a whole well-organized population that includes venues of administrative, religious, ceremonial and permanent residence.
