Today you meet your guide around 08.00 in the small village after a drive to the Finca we start our amazing hike to our privately-owned Falling Waterfalls, into remote virgin cloud forest of Chiriquí High lands, surrounding the perimeter of Vulcan Baru National Park.
The trail parallels the river La Zumbona, a gorgeous river that is spilling into the Rio Caldera. With more than a hundred of bird species native to the area, including the elusive Resplendent Quetzal, birding opportunities abound.
Not only does this hike offer the chance to see beautiful waterfalls and rare birds, it also provides unique opportunities to observe the white-headed capuchin (Cebu’s cappuccinos), monkeys. Enjoy a picnic at the base of one of Boquete’s most exquisite waterfalls and rejuvenate with an invigorating shower. Please be advised that you will need warm clothing and a rain jacket if you have one.
After about 3hr hike on a primary forest we will come back to the main house for lunch, including fresh fruit and vegies from the season and the farm, also a nice organic salad and meat from the farm – pork, chicken.
After enjoying the lunch, we will pass to the coffee part, these 3 hectares farm has a bit more than a hectare of organic coffee plants with some unique varieties as the famous Geisha (geisha) and yellow catuai, this is one of the few coffee beans that will ripe yellow.
We will start outside with a hike around the coffee plantation, we will explain about how we take care of our coffee plants in an organic way, to be able to have a successful harvest. Then we will go back inside to continue the explanation of the process of the coffee, the drying and the peeling process of the coffee beans. After this we will be ready to roast coffee in our own coffee roasting machine and of course taste the coffee that we just roasted! We will also show how to use the coffee skin to make and try an amazing tea.
